ABOUT
ARTS IN THE PARK
top
of page
ARTS IN THE PARK is a five week children's program series, featuring a variety of free events and activities, including music, puppet shows, magic shows and theatre. Activities are presented in historic King Park, located in the heart of downtown Jamaica. Presented by Cultural Collaborative Jamaica and the NYC Dept. of Parks & Recreation this exciting audience development program brings young audiences, ages 4 - 10, who may not have the opportunity to go on a summer vacation, to a professional performance. After each performance participants are encouraged to take advantage of Park Activites.
AIP began in 1995, in partnership with the NYC Dept. of Parks & Recreation. Each year we have been fortunate to present professional performers such as Rutumba Con Pie, Drum Songs Productions, and the National Theatre of the Deaf just to name a few.
Since the inception of this program CCJ has continued to be astounded by the number of children in the area and the borough who still remain in the city during the summer. Since the inception of this program the overall attendance has increased by 45% and still counting.
