Holidays on the Avenue

Holiday’s on the Avenue (HOTA)

PictureInitiated in 1995, Holidays on the Avenue was created to bring added festive excitement and cultural activities to Jamaica Center during the holiday shopping season.  HOTA enables the members of CCJ to present diverse holiday programs during the afternoon and evening hours in downtown Jamaica for the holiday season.

Holidays on the Avenue  denotes the celebration of Holiday programs and activities relating to Ramadan, Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa and Three Kings, November through January in Southeast Queens. This Holiday event is designed to spur participation by the community and other agencies for Cultural Arts Programs.
Holidays on the Avenue officially begins with a Community Tree lighting Ceremony in Rufus King Park, which began on the site of the former Dutch Reformed Church  to indicate to the Jamaica Community that something grand was happening the restoration of this building into the Jamaica Performing Arts Center.
